So if anything they should cost less if it wasnt for the fact thatĭirectx9 and Directx11 are FREE API's for studios and programmers to use Infact OpenGL 3.x + 4.5 + Vulkan are FREE OPEN SOURCE API's ![]() ![]() DX.ĪPI's do not cost anymore or less then other ones I'd assume the similar may apply when talking about using other APIs vs. I don't know anything about graphics APIs, however a Legend of Kay remaster developer posted on the Steam boards that they chose DX11 over DX9 for that port because it would have been prohibitively more expensive to use DX9 to do things that are easier to accomplish in DX11.
